Pension Protection Act of 2006
 
  • The IRS has posted a website containing a collection of their information about the Pension Protection Act. Included on the website is a chart of the various provisions of PPA with their relative effective dates. That chart is available at http://www.irs.ustreas.gov/pub/irs-tege/ppa_chart.pdf. The chart is organized by the numbered sections of PPA. For example, scrolling down to Section 829 reveals that allowing rollovers by nonspouse beneficiaries on certain retirement plan distributions is effective for distributions after December 31, 2006. The chart also provides the Code sections affected by PPA, which for rollovers to nonspouse beneficiaries are Code sections 402, 403, and 457. The IRS'' website on PPA also contains a link to Notice 2007-7, which, starting on page 5, contains guidance regarding rollovers by nonspouse beneficiaries from Section 829 of PPA.
